A Word about Cap-Stock Decking
In the Sept/Oct issue of Deck Builder Magazine, a deck builder wrote in asking about cap-stock decking and his experience with a product that had swelling and flaring on the ends after installation.
We’re happy to say that wasn’t one of our products! WOLF works hard to ensure the products we bring to market are reliable and perform to your expectations.
To date, we provide two cap-stock products; CEVN decking and WOLF PVC decking. Both product lines have a PVC core as well as a PVC capstock. And shortly we’ll be proudly supplying new Evergrain Envision decking, a compression molded composite cap-stock product.
The product mentioned in the article was an extruded wood flour composite. When composite material is extruded, it has “room to breathe.” Compression molded product, on the other hand, is compressed under extreme pressure to not only give it its deep grain surface texture but also make it as dense as possible. So what? Well, by pressing out all of the “extra space” the composite material becomes denser, harder and much less susceptible to moisture.
And you can rest assured if you choose our PVC cap-stock products. Both CEVN and WOLF PVC Decking are made from 100% PVC material. So not only will it not absorb moisture, but it’s approved for direct ground contact too!
